In 2018 Carlos and Melissa, a young couple passionate about nature, decided to become entrepreneurs in the world of tourism. Inspired by the beauties of Monteverde – its cloud forests, its wildlife and its magical climate – they dreamed of creating a place that would invite people to experience what they feel when walking among trees, listening to birds at dawn and breathing that pure air that only this corner of the country can offer.
This is how Calathea Hotel was born, a project that began with the hope of sharing the charm of the forest and transformed into a commitment to hospitality, sustainability and Costa Rican authenticity.
